This afternoon, I took Lisle (my dog) with me to go have lunch at Sauce (on Hampton Street, in Venice) with my favorite teacher from high school, Ms. Shohfi.  We decided to split the Sauteed Mushrooms and Shallots on Polenta Cakes, Ahi Tuna Sandwich, and Greek Salad.  The polenta was crispy on the outside, but still soft on the inside, and the sauteed goodies on top were seasoned just right.  The sandwich was also very well prepared, with a lightly dressed purple cabbage slaw on top.  The salad was the only thing that didn’t quite meet my expectations.  It was a bit soggy, and we even found a piece of ice on one of the lettuce leaves (some of the leaves were brown too).  Other than that, the waiters were very attentive, and friendly, and even brought out a bowl of water for my pup.  My favorite part of the meal, was right before we left, when one of our servers brought out a plate with slices of a plum-like fruit that they had picked up at the farmer’s market.  Sauce also automatically includes a 15% gratuity on their checks, to insure that everyone on their staff (servers and dish washers alike) are taken care of (their emphasis on community was definitely impressive).  I definitely enjoyed lunch, and would go back for the Polenta Cakes or the Ahi Tuna Sandwich.
